Guest Blogger: Tara Guérard

A premier event designer of the southeast, we are very excited to have Tara Guérard blogging for us. From rustic weddings in plantation settings to sleek affairs in downtown mansions, her weddings have become the highlight of the region since she started her company, Soiree in 1997. In addition to wedding planning and design, she launched a couture paper line called The Lettered Olive in 2008, featuring letterpress and custom-printed pieces reminiscent of the beautiful weddings she plans. For more eye candy, check out her book, Southern Weddings: New Looks from the Old South (and stay tuned for her second book, which in the works!).

If you haven't yet discovered, Charleston is chock-a-block with great shopping. From Saks Fifth Avenue to smaller local boutiques such as Bob Ellis shoes or Hampden Clothing we have great emporiums of style!

If you're in search of wedding attire and a honeymoon trousseau, don't miss Charleston Fashion Week, March 24 to 28. This year's event line up includes a Charleston Weddings Magazine-hosted bridal couture runway show that's sure to give inspiration. Some of our favorite local gown boutiques include Maddison Row and The Gown Boutique of Charleston. Bella Bridesmaid and Lula Kate (run by local designer, Katherine Mullin) are good picks for bridesmaids' dresses and visit Mary Norton is for show-stopping shoes and accessories.
